Claudia J. McDowell

Claudia McDowell is a Partner in the law firm of Poole Shaffery . Ms. McDowell practices corporate, securities and commercial law and is highly skilled in mergers and acquisitions and transactional negotiations. She represents micro-cap and small-cap publicly traded companies, as well as small, medium and large privately owned corporations around the world. Ms. McDowell has extensive experience in federal and state securities and compliance issues under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Ms. McDowell has served as general counsel for public companies as well as private companies. In addition, Ms. McDowell uses her strong business acumen and varied experience to advise businesses and individuals in real estate transactions and in estate planning. Ms. McDowell has extensive experience in reverse merger acquisitions and representing issuers before the Securities and Exchange Comission. 

For more than 26 years, prior to joining Poole Shaffery , Ms. McDowell owned her own private practice and ultimately partnered with her daughter, M. Lisa Odom where she actively represented companies in all aspects of their existence' including setting up a corporate structure, preparing business plans, drafting private placements, registration of securities, listing on an exchange and corporate governance. Her practice included both US companies and foreign companies in countries such as Canada, China and Taiwan.

Ms. McDowell attended the University of Denver Sturm College of Law where she received numerous honors and graduated at the top of her class. Ms. McDowell served as Book Review editor for the University of Denver Journal of International Law and Policy. Ms. McDowell has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Florida International University, where she graduated with Highest Honors and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Florida International University where she graduated with High Honors. Ms. McDowell is admitted to the California Bar, the Colorado Bar and the United States District Court Bar. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association and the Santa Clarita Bar Association where she received the Founders Award from her peers in 2014. Ms. McDowell serves as the current president (2018 & 2019) for the Santa Clarita Bar Association. She has also previously served as treasurer for two years and has been a board member for three years.
