Employment Law

Kiana Mathews, et al. v. Pinterest Inc., et al. (San Francisco Super Ct. No. CGC-21-589584): On November 15, 2023, defendant Pinterest Inc. agreed to the terms of a $3.5 million settlement to resolve a class action wage-and-hour claim brought forth by Kiana Mathews. Plaintiffs, hired through a staffing agency, alleged that Pinterest failed to pay overtime wages; provide meal and rest periods; failed to timely pay wages upon termination; failed to reimburse for business-related expenses amongst other claims. Plaintiff argued that a putative class existed of all non-exempt Pinterest employees. Defendant denied all allegations but eventually settled the matter after attending mediation. Plaintiff was represented by Justice Law Corporation. Defendant was represented by Orick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP.
