Northern California Hospital Agrees to $14 Million Settlement to Resolve Class Action Wage and Hour Case
Sandra Muniz, et al. v. Sutter Valley Hospitals, et al. (Sacramento Super Ct. No. 34-2017-00209151-CU-OE-GDS): On February 10, 2023 Sutter Valley Hospitals agreed to the terms of a $14 million settlement to resolve a class-action wage and hour matter brought forth by current and former hospital employees. Plaintiffs claimed that defendants violated multiple sections of the Labor Code including failing to provide meal periods, pay premium wages, provide rest periods, provide wage statements and failure to timely pay wages after employees terminated employment. Defendants denied all contentions leading up to mediation, ultimately resolving the matter after a full-day mediation session with Michael Dickstein, Esq. Plaintiffs were represented by GrahamHollis APC. Defendants were represented by GBG LLP.
