Gamboa, et al. v. Phenix Transportation West Inc., et al. (Los Angeles Super Ct. No. BC667551): On April 17, 2022, a jury entered a verdict of $52 million to compensate Joshua Hernandez a passenger in a car that was broadsided by a tractor-trailer driven by defendant Nathan Harris. The accident occurred at an intersection in South Gate, resulting in Nathan Harris being hospitalized for months. Plaintiff Joshua Hernandez, through his guardian ad litem Dalia Gamboa filed an action against Nathan Harris; Harris’ employer and transportation companies Phenix Transportation West and Phenix Transportation Inc., with only Harris and the transportation companies remaining as defendants at trial. Defendants did not dispute liability but argued against the extent of plaintiff’s injuries and the cost of his future medical care. Plaintiffs were represented by the Law Office of William Shapiro.
