Employment Law

Santiago Lim, et al. v. Transforce Inc., et al. (Los Angeles Super Ct. No. 19STCV05701): On November 15, 2022 defendants Tforce Logistics, LLC and Tforce Logistics LLC agreed to the terms of a $15.5 million misclassification class action matter brought by lead plaintiff Santiago Lim, who worked as a delivery driver between 2010 and 2016. Plaintiff alleged that defendants erroneously classified delivery drivers as independent contractors instead of employees; failed to provide employees with minimum wage and overtime; failed to provide meal and rest periods; failed to reimburse employees for job-related expenses; and failed to provide itemized wage statements. Defendants agreed to settle the matter without admitting liability, and agreed to pay $15.5 million to settle the class members’ claims.
