FEATURED SETTLEMENT: Truck Driver & Broker Settle Bicyclist Wrongful Death Case for $6.75 Million

Maguire, et al. v. Hundal, et al. (Alameda Super Ct. No. RG19019478): In March of 2021, the remaining defendants in a wrongful death action agreed to the terms of a $6.75 million dollar settlement to resolve a matter filed by the surviving adult children of Martin Nelis, a bicyclist killed in a trucking accident. Plaintiffs argued the truck driver acted negligently, alluding to the fact that he did not stop at the scene after striking the bicyclist, and for not allowing enough room for the bicyclist to pass. Plaintiffs were represented by Altair Law LLP.
