Alfredo Martinez, et al. v. Southern California Edison Company, et al.
(Los Angeles Super Ct. No. BC670461): In June of 2022, Southern California Edison Company was hit with a $460 million dollar verdict in a case filed by two employees, Alfredo Martinez and Justin Page, who filed a claim in 2017 alleging sexual and racial harassment at the company’s South Bay office. Martinez, a 16 year employee with a spotless record, alleged that he received multiple retaliatory complaints within 30 days of reporting incidents of harassment, including complaints filed by his own supervisors. After filing a similar complaint, Page also received retaliatory complaints. Page transferred to a different location and ultimately took a leave of absence, not returning to work. Defendant denied all claims and plans to appeal the verdict. The jury awarded $22.37 million in compensatory damages to Martinez; $400 million in punitive damages to Martinez and $40 million in punitive damages to Page. Plaintiffs were represented by DeRubertis Law Firm.
