Fernando E. Gomez v. Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, et al. (Los Angeles Super Ct. No. 18STCV08696): On May 4, 2021 defendant Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority agreed to the terms of a $2 million settlement with plaintiff Fernando E. Gomez, who was injured in an incident involving a bus operated by defendant. On December 7, 2017, plaintiff was at a bus stop on Santa Monica Blvd when a bus operated by defendant pulled up to the stop. Plaintiff attempted to board the bus by placing his left foot on the ramp, but the doors on the bus suddenly closed, trapping him in place with his body outside of the bus. Plaintiff was dragged through the street, suffering injuries to his leg, hip, elbow, hand, shoulders, and spine. The bus eventually stopped after a witness informed the driver of the situation. Plaintiff had to undergo multiple surgeries because of his injuries. Plaintiff was represented by the Wilshire Law firm, PLC.
