Chen, et al. v. Western Digital Corporation, et al. (USDC Central District No. 8:19-cv00909): On January 5, 2021 a $7.7 million settlement was reached in a class action matter involving employees of Western Digital Corporation in a matter where Plaintiffs alleged Title VII discrimination. Lead plaintiff, Yunghui Chen worked for Western Digital Corporation for 10 years, until her termination in September 2016. In the underlying matter, Plaintiffs alleged that women were discriminated against in regards to equal pay, job placement and job promotions, regardless of their qualifications. Defendant denied Plaintiff’s contentions. The 1800 class members are due to receive an average of $2752.90 each as a result of the settlement. Plaintiffs were represented by Sanford Heisler Sharp LLP.
